You don't need to recompile VisEmacs. On the contrary, you write a simple .exe program which will invoke bash as "bash gnuclient.sh file:line", then in gnuclient.sh, you tweak the file path with `cygpath -au' etc., to make the posix path which cygwin-emacs understands.
