VidSync is a scientific video analysis program for both 2-D event logging and 3-D measurement applications.

  • Measure 3-D coordinates and lengths with sub-millimeter precision and accuracy, usually using 2 videos (stereo videography) but compatible with more.
  • Quick, simple calibration with 2 inexpensive objects, a grid of dots (the calibration frame) and a flat chessboard pattern.
  • Customizable playback controls, including fast-forward and slow motion at any speed, stepping frame-by-frame or at intervals, randomization, and more.
  • Simple, flexible storage of measurements into objects (such as fish) and events (such as prey captures) for each object.
  • Exports data as structured XML files or CSV spreadsheet files.
  • Extensive visual overlays for measurements and annotations, as well as helpful queues, such as "hint lines" that help locate an object in one camera after clicking on it in the other.
  • Capture and save screenshots or snippets from your videos with VidSync's overlays for use in presentations.

Project Samples

The main measurement screen. Also shown is the window to edit object and event types and the visual settings for their overlays on the screen. The video and still capture screen, from which users can export snippets from videos with their analyses overlaid. The chessboard distortion correction screen, overlaid with a grid on the distortion-corrected corners of the chessboard points. The screen for miscellaneous annotations, which serve as useful bookmarks for important points on the video. The input screen for the calibration frame, overlaid with a grid showing the resulting coordinate system for the front face of the frame. Also shown are the customization options for the magnified preview in the main window -- note the use of the concentric arc reticle for digitizing the black circular nodes on the frame.
