It would be nice if all the shell scripts had the correct modes after unzip'ing the software.
I think most of your "linux" develpoment is done in cygwin, so if setting the modes is not possible. Than perhaps a script to set the modes.
It's fairly painless to do on one's own, it's just that I am lazy.

Be nice if the diff-updates were included in a zip form in addition to a self-extracting executable.
If in a zip form, then one could use a linux/unix system to build the update cd without ever visiting a windows platform. This would be awesome.

Windows update reference Wrong
When i try to update with your program all seems to go well. If i try to update with standard Microsoft procedure it find all the package that i have already installed.
Probably you don't update windows's update receference list.

Using the Windows updater CD 8-9-06 won't update and
says you must install XP Service Pack 2 even if the
PC is already running XP SP-2.
On PCs that are running SP-1 the install can be
updated to SP-2 but the CD won't recognize the
upgrade and won't update further saying you must
install SP-2.
