  • Comment: Tinting produces dots all over the screen

Using nHancer I created a profile for GLHexen II and under OpenGL Compatibility options I checked the box Driver Extension Limit and entered the value 11a8. May work with other values as well. RTCW profile has a value of 4844. I have no idea what these values mean.

  • Comment: Tinting produces dots all over the screen

This is good to know. uHxen2 surely has opengl updates/fixes, so the failure you experienced with original glhexen2 is expected. However, I am not sure what the reasons are for the failures of uhexen2 under opengl-3.2. This may become a FAQ, though, so I am keeping this entry open. If you can, please give some small details on how you limited opengl extensions on your system here, so that...

Limiting the extensions fixed that. The original GL Hexen 2 would not even run without extension limits with OpenGL 3.2.

  • Followup: RE: midi + external files

If the ogg files are placed correctly, they will be the first priority. The normal midi files will be played when external files are not found. (I know the option name is conflicting and confusing, but that is one of the reasons that those patches are in beta state ;)

  • midi + external files

since i managed to apply both patches - midi_with_sdlaudio-test.diff - external-music-file-support.diff there is one remaining question. For both versions i have to choose "midi" as music source. Now this seems to be a conflict, since i can't make the internal files go away, so it would never play my external files? (i got those hq-ogg files) Saying that, is there any sense...

wow i'm sorry. i was under the impression the patch concerns only /hexen2 and applied with -p2. the failing part was for hexenworld... again i'm sorry since i must have been completely blind, hexen2source-1.4.4-pre8.tgz is obviously there, right before my eyes.

Closing as invalid, because this is a user error.

You must apply that patch while you are in the main source directory, not while in one of the hexen2 or hexenworld directories: for example apply the patch by 'patch -p1' when in you are in the hexen2source-1.4.4-pre8 or uhexen2-20091230 directory. (And just a reminder: if you also want external music support along with it, you must *first* apply midi_with_sdlaudio-test.diff, and *then* patch...
