  • I had the same issue as steveglines; I imputted many segments only to find that they were missing on re-loading. The solution is to open charmap.exe, then Group by: Unicode Subrange, then click General Punctuation, and then select and copy the double exclamation mark character (n.b., not the single exclamation mark twice, but the double exclamation mark); and then open your XML file in notepad and do a search for the double exclamation mark characters. Delete them all, save and re-load. If you use Word or Writer for your text, and are used to hitting the hyphen twice for an automatic long dash, then this is what the double exclamation mark is replacing due to some coding oversight, I presume. If you're going to change the font size, to alter the reading rate, then be sure to either turn off the teleprompter every time, or leave it on every time. Point is, if you aren't constant with your choice then you will have erratic speeds. A good prompter, better than the other more-recent ones that I tried. Time for an update! An checkbox option for the teleprompter to remember the last location of the pointers in a given document would be handy.
  • I've been looking for a free teleprompter - I thought surely it isn't that hard to make one. There's quite a few out there and I think I tried most of them - crippleware, limited features, web only. You have to run through that exercise to see how good this is. I don't understand the criticisms, maybe they refer to earlier versions. Currently for me it saves and loads scripts as .xml, you can paste text, there doesn't seem to be any length limit to the script, maybe to segments, it's alpha but hasn't crashed for me (Win7). I don't know if it displays mirrored text, that's not something I need but might affect you.
  • This program just doesn't work. The creation of a script is OK, not great but OK. The teleprompter part is OK, not great but ... If you create a script and save it ... it's gone forever. YOU CANNOT READ THE SCRIPT BACK IN! This last "feature" renders this program WORTHLESS!
  • Get about four minutes into the script and teleprompter jumps to the beginning.
  • Thanks for good program!
