Please keep visiting this site for the upcoming ALPHA RELEASE of Talasalitaan. The changes includes support and translation of English word into the 175 Philippines Local Dialects. Actually it is 171 only because 4 of those Local Dialects are extinc. Some are nearly extinct as well.
ABOUT TALASALITAAN
This is the initial public release of the program. Its purpose is to gain evaluation and feedback from users so that this product can be improved to reach its maximum potential.
It is distributed free of charge as Freeware Windows Application.

FEATURES
- The program features the Tagalog (Filipino) to English Dictionary.
- It provides word surfing through the Dictionary Word Entry List.
- Relative word searching is also provided as you typed along the Word Lookup Bar.
- The Pseudo-LED Light below the Word Lookup Bar tells:
Red - You are surfing the Dictionary Entry. In this regard, you can use up/down arrow key,
PageDown, PageUp, Ctrl+Home, Ctrl+End, the Mouse Wheel, drag the Vertical Scrool
Bar Slider or press the up/down arrow button by clicking on them.
Green - You are surfing the Dictionary by doing a partial lookup or relative search of the word
against the Dictionary entries. You will notice that the Dictionary Entries are
dynamically moved along as you are typing the word.
Regardless of pseudo-LED Light's condition, both of them is dynamically updatating the
Definition, the Pronunciation and the Baybayin Script Translation.
- You can switch between Red and Green by pressing Ctrl+Return or Ctrl+Enter, a convinient
ergonomic feature to limit the arm movement between the keyboard and mouse.
- The accents provides the variation, prefixes, suffixes of the root word if there is any.
(Note: This feature is not yet ready or maybe removed at all.)

This humble work is dedicated to my wife, Dorrie and our beloved children,
to my Parents, to all the Filipinos and Filipinos scattered around the
globe, to DTMI, to my batchmates, DTMI Batch 87 and to my old fellows and
fellas at DTMI as well as my former Teachers at DTMI and to Commission
of Family and Life at Nuestra Señora De La Asuncion Parish Church and
to all students who in one one way or the other might find this work useful
as an offline e-Dictionary and last but not the least to my
friends and colleagues.

OPERATING SYSTEMS COMPATIBILITY
This program is tested with Windows XP Professional Edition and Windows Vista Business. Not
tested with Windows Vista Home and Windows 7.
The program will not make any modification into your system, it would not even touch the systems registry. It is purely stand alone application
LIMITATION
Due to the program's build status, it offers very limited dictionary entries. It only contains 4,483 words. These words are subject for review and modification. In the future updated Dictionary Entries will be available as separate package.
WARNING
The program dynamically installs Baybayin Lopez Font at startup and uninstalls the font during application termination. It does not affect the prior installation of the same font because it is treated as local to this program only. It simplifies everything including testing and simulation of the actual application.
