  • Previously, surun used to show the output of the command in the same cmd window. These days when I surun a command, a new cmd window opens and immediately closes after the execution of the command. I am not sure whether this was done for security reasons, but it makes surun entirely pointless now. It is humanly impossible to read the output of any command within a fraction of a second. Besides, surun is a notification hell. Even after I turn all tooltips off in its settings, it falls into an infinite loop of notifications that get triggered by the notifications themselves.
  • The only sane way to use a limited user account while still having control over installing programs.
  • a must-have program for standard user account

  • One of the most useful applications I've been using so far.

  • EXCELLENT SOFTWARE!!! I read a review in this website: http://www.dedoimedo.com/computers/surun.html It states that "So far, there has been no adequate solution. And by adequate, I mean a program that is stable, rock solid, simple to use, bug-free, secure, and offers seamless functionality. The biggest problem was the last issue." Since I'm a skeptic, I tried one of the other programs after testing SuRun. After rebooting Windows, when I tried to sudo an application, a Windows Error appeared on the screen. With SuRun, the installation was simple, the configuration dialog is in simple words (good for non-tech users) and no errors messages ever appeared. It is a great program to flexibly restrict users, without the IT Technician having to tell the user the Administrator password. According to the SourceForge Project Page, the software is Public Domain. According to the GNU Project web site: http://www.gnu.org/licenses/license-list.html "Public Domain - Being in the public domain is not a license; rather, it means the material is not copyrighted and no license is needed. Practically speaking, though, if a work is in the public domain, it might as well have an all-permissive non-copyleft free software license. Public domain material is compatible with the GNU GPL." I'm not a lawyer, but I believe that if the developer, Kay Bruns, licenses this software as GNU GPL, Kay will have better copyright protection than Public Domain can offer. Kay should check this out with a lawyer in his country. Just an advice.
  • I loved the way this project works. I wish Windows had native support for something like this.
