This appears to happen during high system load - particularly during heavy disk access.
Reducing disk access can alleviate the symptom (e.g., turn off virus scan in your Tablet XP VM session).
I believe the cure is to get a proper output module instead of the XVkbd hack I implemented - that was always just a temporary measure to get the system up and running, as I'm not an X11 programmer.

Some times one of the characters input on the Keyboard or via the Ink Input will repeat when actually sent out to the target window.
The appearance is as if a key has been held down and is auto-repeating.

The SHIP has three modes - Keyboard, Ink Input, and Ink Correction, each with it's own geometry.
A default start position and size are provided in the configuration file.
The user may place the UI in each mode individually on the screen to best match their preference, and that mode will remember it's location for the duration of the session.
I propose the user-selected locations should be...
