I'd like to have bandwidth limiting for remote backups. I can't have this box do a 10GB upload on me with no limits.

Right, some kind of monitor-applet for the notification area would be great!
As a first step, maybe start and stop of a backup could be announced via libnotify?.

Randy, have you looked at the .Trash-1000 folder? When you delete a file on a usb drive in Ubuntu, it generally gets moved to this folder (rather than being permanently deleted). You can also unmount the drive after deleting items (this will prompt you to permanently delete the items that are marked for deletion).

Hi, I'm trying sbackup as backup solution to my server, I need to know if it's possible to change the user that sbackup uses to write into the local destination path. Currently write as root, and this is a problem for what I'm need to do. Really thanks.

I am new to sbackup, but I can find no progress indicator anywhere that would suggest that the program is working fine or it had an epic failure. The only indicator of failure I can find is that the process ID reported by the gui goes defunct. Does this mean it failed? If so, why? Is there something I can do to help it !fail?
Is this the normal behavior of sbackup?
Thanks.

two related questions...
it seems that incremental backups include files changed since the last backup whether that last backup was full or incremental. my question: , how do i find a file that may have changed at some point? do i have to look thru at each incremental for it?
that was one question ;->
the 2nd question: i'm guessing that purge only makes sense in a situation where...

I use Gnome with ubuntu 9.04
Under fstab I mount my NAS-Server via SMB-Share while booting.
NAS-SMB-Share is therefore accessable via /home/user/backup/
I'd like to have a feature, that tests, wheter the NAS-SMB-Share is mounted or not and THEN the backups could perform automatically.
I'd love to have a automated backup each day.
But I found no way to do that. So I make my backups...

Ubuntu 9.04 / Simple backup suite 0.10.4
Today's cheap & huge HDD, and large files .avi., .mpeg, .flac, etc for audio/video.
I am looking for a backup tool that does not compress the files.
sbackup use gzip.
There is not GUI option backup without compression (to save CPU and speed up the backup time)?
Can I edit the config file?
Thanks.
