I'd like to turn off the wormholes. My favorite part is the nebulae or strings or whatever those
bizarre patterns are that constantly fly across the screen.

I would like to disable everything but the stars. My favorite part of the screensaver is when it first starts, before the other effects start kicking in.

I'd like to be able to turn off the nebula or strings or whatever those bizarre patterns are that constantly fly across the screen. They're an awful distraction from the stars, wormholes, and other features of this otherwise beautiful screen saver. AARRGGHHH @ gmail dot com.

With some graphics cards, notably Intel Extreme Graphics, hardware acceleration is automatically disabled for OpenGL screensavers!
This can be avoided by renaming the screensaver from *.scr to *.sCr (!).
