Hi, I am just wondering what the motivation for repcached? Is the main purpose to achieve fault tolerance or some parallelism via multiple servers? In either use case, shouldn't the client be aware the existence of multiple servers?.

.diff.gz against memcache-1.2.8.tar.gz for creating .deb-package for repcached 2.3.

Changes:
* Code cleanup (removed japan words, ...)
* increased version to 2.3
* added -x and -X to manpage
Note: Not compatible with repcached-2.2.

Thanks a lot for your response, pascal. It really helped a lot.
Nevertheless, these wiki pages should be recovered and be written more detailed. I think repcached is a fine project, but without a documentation it is worthless.

I think there was wiki with some docs, but its gone. Here's what I found in the google cache (no info about number of replicas though):
replication sequence:
1. client requests SET command to master
2. master stores to own area.
3. master send key/vaue to slave by memcached protocol
4. master do not wait receiving "STORED" from slave (asynchronous)
5. master...

Hello,
I am really missing a documentation. I could either find anything in the package or on sourceforge. I have mainly two problems, which I am sure could be solved with a documentation.
1. How does the replication work?
2. How can I set up how many replicates are stored?
Cheers,
Dirk.
