For some reason, qingy doesn't get run automatically on my tty1.
I'm running Ubuntu 9.10 with Grub2. My */etc/event.d/tty1* now reads:
start on stopped rc2
start on stopped rc3
start on stopped rc4
start on stopped rc5
stop on runlevel 0
stop on runlevel 1
stop on runlevel 6
respawn
exec /usr/sbin/qingy tty1
But I still just have plain old...

I am very sorry to have stolen your time. :-(
The entries i posted you i didn't have in my inittab anymore after i gave up trying to use it. I can't say 100% anymore if i didn't made the mistake to have a tab or too many spaces after <tty>.
After you answered me i tried it again and it works. I am very sorry for that. It make me feel like a beginner. :-(
Thanks a lot for your fast...

I tried to copy and paste your 'c2:2345:respawn:/sbin/qingy tty2 -p -n' line in my /etc/inittab. Works just fine here. Are you sure that is the exact line you put inside your file? No tabs instead of spaces, stray characters, stuff like that? What is your qingy version? What is the exact output you get from qingy when it does not work for you?
Regards,
Michele.

Hi noberasco!
First of all i want to thank you for your great software.
I like it very much :-)
My problem is that i can't get options like -n or -p working.
It ends in respawing ttys.
What is my mistake?
Usage: qingy <ttyname> [options]
c2:2345:respawn:/sbin/qingy tty2 -p -n
Is that wrong?
Thanks a lot

I also use Gentoo with evdev, but that's not the problem. First, the Qingy FAQ for Gentoo users suggests this problem is DirectFB driver configuration. Unfortunately, on top of that is also a bug in the official DirectFB ebuild that prevents compile of input and video card drivers. See http://bugs.gentoo.org/217796.
I did a quick and dirty fix to the ebuild by manually specifying the...

I have the same problem. I think it could be because of in xorg.conf we have removed the old keyboard and mouse sections and with this configuration qingy don't rules.

When qingy is compiled with libdirectfb 1.2 the graphical login screen does not display properly. It is shrinked in the left side of the screen (with the right being black) end it's colors look wrong.
