Looks like I was partually wrong. The file is being added
to the print queue and then aborted. This is what I see in
cups:

I could not find a way to navigate from the homepage
of this project to bug reports, feature requests, the
forum, cvs, or any of the other standard sourceforge
project options. I finally just did a search under
sourceforge to find this page.

I found with kfax, when I print a fax the aspect
ratio is wrong. So I decided to try qfaxreader.
However, when I print with qfaxreader my print queue
remains empty and nothing is printed. I finally had
to resort to using tiff2pdf so I could use acroread
to print with the correct aspect ratio.

Under SuSE 10.1, whenever I ran configure it failed
to with an error indicating it could not build a
simple QT application. I added "set -x" to the
configure script, and found it was using the wrong
lib path. Explicitly supping a library path did not
help. However, after I reviewed the script I found
the solution:
QTDIR="" ./configure
Configure then correctly used...
