By the way, PIC24 and dsPIC33 devices do not currently have peripheral
library support. And optimization is only supported by code not
free "not free beer, neither free speech".
Oh! I forgot! Pic30-lm and pic30-pa are not free at all.

microchip themselves have already patched the gcc
toolchain to provide support for the PIC backend, check
out the gcc mailing list archives and the microchip
site where you can download the relevant patches.
