I am using version 2.40. When I add a recipe to a shopping list, the ingredients are listed with only the quantity (i.e. 2, 5.5, etc.) and the item name and description. What is missing is the unit type (ie. cup, teaspoon, etc.) So for Onion I get:
**1 Onion**
But for 3 teaspoons of Cumin I only get:
**3 Cumin**
I really need to have the quantity type included in the shopping list...

The unit types displayed is controlled by what Country the user is configured to belong to. So if the Admin is setup with Germany it will see the Metric units. If the other user is setup as USA user then they will only see the Imperial units.
So take a look at what country the user belongs to (user Admin - Country) and change the country to a Non-US country if you want to see metric stuff.

Thanks. Looks like two more inputs that had to be sanitized. Release 2.41 has a fix for this.
Hopefully the SF release system will show the new version soon, they have a glitch right now.
