What's happening?

  • arbitrarily shows SAVE dialog rather than open the pdf

pdfdownload set in General tab to 'Open pdf.' On 'Opening pdf' tab, I have set it at times to point specifically to my viewer's exe (Foxit) and at other times to use OS default, which also is Foxit. Here is the bug...99% of the time, instead of opening a pdf, pdfdownload causes the "where-to-save-it" dialog window to appear, rather than opening it in the pointed-to app or the OS default app...

  • error, when .pdf-link yields a html message

A link like http://www.akademie.de/closed/kurse/39771_namensfindung-unternehmens-und-produktnamen-finden/39771_kurs_unternehmens-und-produktnamen-finden.pdf on our site will yield a "you have to log in first"-html-document, if you haven't logged in. "PDF Extensions" treats that hmtl-message document as if it was a PDF file, because MIME / HTTP-header information is ignored.

  • v3.0.0.1 stops working after quit/relaunch of Firefox 3.5.3

Previous versions of PDF Download (v2.x) had the annoying occurrence of no longer working (not bringing up the pop-up window of choices) after some period of time in Firefox, but could get back to working by opening a new window in Firefox. It was not necessary to use the new window -- just having one opened made PDF Download work again. Now with v3.0.0.1, the situation is far worse where...

  • PDFs from GOV site always fail

Site is to download bills in Senate or House. Try http://frwebgate.access.gpo.gov/cgi-bin/getdoc.cgi?dbname=111_cong_bills&docid=f:h2454eh.txt.pdf, for example.

  • PDF Download gets a 404 error.

The web page is converted to PDF, according to the message, but the page it links to to download has the wrong URL as it gets a page not found error.

  • PDF Download, bugs in opening in browser

I am using PDF Download 2.2.0.2, Firefox 3.0.10, and Mac OS 10.4.11. The program worked almost perfectly (sometimes failed to give a popup choice for opening) until the most recent upgrade a few days ago. FF installed it automatically and I have not touched preferences. Now, when I click on a PDF link to open it, the popup opens on the first window in my browser and then loads into the...

  • Opening PDF in current tab instead of new tab

This has started to happen for 3-4 weeks since now. When I click on an URL with PDF file the proper PDF Download window opens up, but then if I click on "Open PDF" - the file is opening in current tab instead of a new tab (as I want it to and as it is configured). Doesn't matter if I click the URL by pressing LMB or middleclick it. FF v3.0.10 (English) PDF Download v2.2.0.2.

  • Hander should occur after reciept of HTTP headers

Looking at PDF Download's open bugs, and looking at its behavior myself, it appears that the fundamental flaw is that it attempts to *guess* whether a file will be a PDF based in its URL alone, and does not gracefully handle the result if the response from the server does not contain a PDF file. As a matter of fact, because of the design of the HTTP protocol, you it is fundamentally...
