The MXP Team today announces MXP 2.8.3 - bugfix version.
This is the latest update to the 2.8.x line of development and incldues bug-fixes only, below is a helpful compilation of requirements you'll need & features you can expect as well as the standard brief explanation to the codebase of this MXP release.

MXP 2.8.3 is a rewrite of the original 2.7.x code left in place by the founder of mxBB and as future versions of MXP are released this text will reflect each progressive change so that you can see what is being updated in each version, MXP 2.8.2 relys on a new OO (object-oriented) design - to briefly explain what this means:

Object-oriented coding techniques within PHP code, scripts and applications gives developers greater flexibility and easier maintenance when creating php code in a development environment. Programs become easier to extend, or debug, and sharing code with other developers becomes simpler.

This is the forth release of MXP 2.8.x (2.8.0 , 2.8.1 , 2.8.2, 2.8.3), and as such is stable, feature locked with future releases along this branch being serious bug-fixes only. If you have any suggestions or comments then please feel free to post in the relevant forum.

Functionality added or changed:
[*]The mxBB kernel is now implemented with simple and intuitive OO classes for common mxBB core components, where applicable. The code itself has been rewritten to optimize DB handling, and to minimize the number of DB queries. Compared to mxBB 2.7.x, this means number of DB queries for typical pages are cut in approximately half (40-50%), resulting in a 15-30% faster page generation time (exact performance depends on server type, configuration, blocks in use and site traffic). In addition to the improved AdminCP area, there's also a powerful UserCP - making portal management possible on different levels. The Core vs. Modules interaction (the mxBB modular approach) is enriched with a standard set of class methods and install/upgrade routines that will also aid all developers in developing mxBB modules.
[*]New AdminCP area, featuring intuitive and "fast" admin controls.
[*]New UserCP panels, accessible from the portal front itself.
[*]New cache engine, which relies on fast and stable flat file technique. In addition to a "hardcore" cache, there's also a configurations/custom cache that can be used by any module at any time.
[*]PHP sessions are abandoned to avoid the added server workload.
[*]The navigation menu is now a module.
[*](HTML) Textblocks now features a WYSIWYG (What You See Is What You Get) interface.
[*]Added compatibility with the eXtreme Styles MOD.
[*]Added compatability with Simple Sub-Forum MOD
[*]Added compatibility with new line "phpbb2" backend modules.
[*]Improved versions of some functions and code layout reorganization.
[*]New core parameter types are introduced: radio buttons, checkboxes, and drop-down menus. Additional parameters may be defined by modules themselves and loaded by the core.

Thank you for using MXP as your CMS solution.
The MXP Team.
