MicrobeGPS is a bioinformatics tool for the analysis of metagenomic sequencing data. The goal is to profile the composition of metagenomic communities as accurately as possible and present the results to the user in a convenient manner. One main focus is reliability: the tool calculates quality metrics for the estimated candidates and allows the user to identify false candidates easily.

Project Samples

MicrobeGPS graphical user interface. The detected candidate organisms are listed in the table on the left. Color coding eases differentiating between highly reliable and unreliable identifications. Identified organisms can be selected and inspected. The upper right shows the taxonomic affiliation of the selected organism. MicrobeGPS analysis pipeline. The tool analyzes SAM files of metagenomic reads mapped to reference genome databases. The pipeline guides the user step-by-step through the analysis and gives feedback on the results of each step. Single steps can be repeated with different parameters without running the whole pipeline again.
