Mewig requires .NET 1.1 and the installation program attempts to download .NET 3.5. The non DECSS version of Mencoder is installed by default. There is no choice for the sound codec apart from mp3. When I attempted to convert a flash video encoded with VP6 using the x264 encoder the program crashed when I clicked 'preview' in Video Filters. All the buttons were grayed out and I had to restart the program. When I did so I received a message about an unhandled exception. After specifying the source and destination files and selecting the x264 encoder with 2 passes I started the encoding, but it appeared to finish in 2 seconds and nothing was written the destination folder. I also found that the preview button for the source file does not work. All in all a complete waste of time.
