with a little more control and ability to attach to other apps/codecs i.e midi, asio
you could beat egoSys directwire, which by the way does not work for me
also copy stereo without upmix to 8ch in 4 stereo pairs.

Hi!
First of all, MatrixMixer project is now fully replaced with AC3Filter project (it provides all functions of MatrixMixer and does much more).
And about SPDIF. Read here for detailed description about how it works and why it was said that it supports only stereo: http://ac3filter.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=10
Also this article describes all "workarounds" possible...

I see in another post that sp/dif only supports pcm? then why do some dvd's play properly (as noticed by reciever changing to digital mode and proper 5.1 sound from speaker such as sound strictly from one surround speaker and no others)
i also saw in the same post you are workin on "on the fly" compression for this issue. are they any workarounds for this now?.

Okay I am curious how to enable both this and ac3 filter and make sure they are working properly.
ac97 audio chip ... supports 5.1 channel sp/dif
using optical output to 5.1 surroundsound receiver
5 speaker setup L C R SL SR (powered sub on occaision)
I am new to this higher level of HTPC land, and looking to expand my knowledge on how to control these signals
my OS is Win XP Pro...

Hi there - I'm looking to swap my rear 2 speakers in a 4 speaker setup (due to a cabling issue). Can Matrix Mixer do this? I am on WinXP using 4 speaker config in creative sound mixer properties, and 5.1 sound in Windows Multimedia display properties.
Thanks for any help in setting up Matrix Mixer for this!

I agree that having SPDIF output would be a very nice added feature. I noticed that you do have this feature in the AC3Filter program that seems to use much of the same codebase. I was wondering if it would be possable to port the SPDIF output into this program? Thanks for the useful programs and all your work.

Not much more than to ask if it wouldn't be to much
trouble to compile this tool for a 64 bit version of
windows, I would be more than happy to beta test :)
