  • Followup: RE: LP9002 kills arbitrated loop during boot

    I apologize for not monitoring this forum better and the *very* long delay in a response. I really don't know. I'm assuming there is no "boot" support configured for the adapter, thus no bios driver is attempting startup (is the xrom even enabled). Even so, the later comparison of when it does vs doesn't work points away from anything system-boot-ish. I'm wondering if it's the...

  • Followup: RE: Monitoring of RAID using lpfc driver

    Whew - have I not been monitoring this help list..... This comes down to an issue between upstream drivers (which Ubuntu pulls in) vs distro drivers (which only specifically support RHEL and SLES). The distro drivers, where the real support statements for OEMs and Emulex exist, provide extended tool support. the "lpfcdfc" module is an adjunct for the driver that provides the...

  • SCST-enhanced lpfc driver: build errors

    Hello, I'm trying to compile your driver against kernel 2.6.30. The build is failing mostly because of the change of scsi_cmnd structure in 2.6.25. First I had to make a patch with : # more ../../lpfc.patch diff -uNr a/lpfc/lpfc_init.c b/lpfc/lpfc_init.c --- a/lpfc/lpfc_init.c 2009-04-25 02:58:25.000000000 +0200 +++ b/lpfc/lpfc_init.c 2009-08-15 11:15:01.000000000 +0200 @@...

  • Followup: RE: lpfc SCST problem with Emulex LP9002DC

    I and some of my engineers may have some spare time to spend on LP9000's target mode, so can you provide its datasheet or something to help me? Thanks~~~ :)

  • Followup: RE: lpfc SCST problem with Emulex LP9002DC

    It is possible. But as the LP9000 is deemed Legacy (retired) product, we don't have enough justification to spend time and energy on it. As mentioned in an earlier post, if there's volunteers, I can provide information to help guide someone to add it.

  • Followup: RE: lpfc SCST problem with Emulex LP9002DC

    Yeah, I confirmed that LP9002DC support SLI-2 with Emulex firmware tool, so is it possible to make SCST target mode works fine with LP9000 series adapter? As most of my customers still use LP9000 series, and they are not necessary to update to 4Gbps FC right now. Thanks~~~.

  • Followup: RE: lpfc SCST problem with Emulex LP9002DC

    Unfortunately, twisted marketing words. Starting with the LP10000 line, they started making enterprise names (ex: lp10002) and midrange names (ex lp1050) - thus the statement applies for all adapter names as of the 10000 line. The LP9000 family, a very good adapter, is considered Legacy, thus the naming convention doesn't apply and SLI-3 firmware was not developed for it. Sorry.

  • Followup: RE: lpfc SCST problem with Emulex LP9002DC

    Thanks jselx I have Emulex LP9002DC adapters, however I am in China, it may be too far from you. (: And I got some thing from Emulex's Linux driver manual: ------------------------------------------------------------ Emulex enterprise class (5 digit adapter model number) and Midrange class (4 digit adapter model number) adapters support SLI-3. Emulex 3 digit model number adapters do not...

  • Followup: RE: lpfc SCST problem with Emulex LP9002DC

    If an adapter is placed into "target" role w/o the initiator role, which is the default for the new base driver for SCST, the link is held down until the SCST target module binds with the adapter. We do this so that initiators don't start logging in with us until the Target module is there to respond as it should. There are 2 different firmware/adapter interfaces for Emulex...
