  • great game Richard, thanks for all the work. I'm stuck at melting the door with fire turtles, but I'll get there when I'm fresh. To answer Aaron's question, if you are using the windows version, look in "C:\Program Files\Parallel Realities\Edgar" for a file called config. edit it to fix the key settings. the ones on mine have UP as 273 that should stop enter being used for up. I haven't compiled a linux version for my os yet, so you'd have to check the source code or unzip your distribution package to find where the config file gets dumped if you are playing on linux.

  • When I tried to edit the user controls, I accidentally set the "up" key to the "enter" key, and could no longer select any menu commands, or begin the game. I tried reinstalling the game as well, and nothing will change the settings. How can I fix this so I can play your game?
  • Fantastic game! It's an action-adventure side-scroller reminiscent of the early Castlevania / Zelda / Metroid games. Well-managed gradations of difficulty; it's encouragingly easy to make some initial progress in the Village area, but you encounter a huge variety of monsters with different attack methods as you progress through the game. Player combat is mostly sword-and-shield, with some bow-and-arrow. Lost health and arrows can generally be recovered by collecting drops from defeated monsters - except during the boss fights and the catacombs map. However, enemy position and health persists when you change map or save your game; this means that The Legend of Edgar does not suffer from the problem of ridiculously easy item-farming and level-grinding that you find in Cave Story and other similar games, that allow players to level up simply by repeatedly switching between two maps and killing one enemy. Lots of puzzle-solving too. Cutscenes are all in-engine, and give a good sense of story continuity. The game's initial appearance may seem cutesy - but before handing the controller to the little 'uns, be aware that there *are* gibs in some of the boss fights. Lots of secrets - so even if you complete the game, there's lots of replay value. Thoroughly recommended, deserves to become a classic.
  • Nice cute game with music and a tutorial. The story brought a smile to me. Certainly recommended.
