please note that in LameFE 2.4.0, this seems to refer to FreeDB as track numbers work OK with MusicBrains... but LameFE 2.4.0 has other problems with MusicBrains (e.g. it creates an 'album' folder for each song on the CD). Perhaps the FreeDB problem is related to the following (I don't know):

i have found a work-around - simply go down the list of tracks, selecting each in turn, and entering the track number in the txt box at the bottom-right.
