Thank *you*! I'm glad to know it's still being useful and appreciated. Any thoughts / issues you have on your install experience vis a vis Ubuntu would be appreciated.
I sound like a broken record, but I *am* planning on working on an update, and have even started integrating apt-get into the install, which makes things much smoother on Ubuntu, Debian, and Mac OSX. Too bad I just bought...

I found this project about a week ago and, after several nights of going over dependencies and configurations, was able to get it working. It is a great program that seems to be working very well for me. I even have four other people interested in building their own jukeboxes after seeing mine. This is a great program that is exactly what I was looking for.
I don't have alot of Linux...

If a tag is altered, surely the file modification time will be updated. If this time was stored in the database, it'd be a simple matter of comparing the last modification time in the database with that of the file. This way you wouldn't need to open the file unless the modification dates are different. If that is the case then calliope can then open the file and read in the new tags.
I like...

In the INSTALL file on line 113 & 114 you state PostgreSQL is one of the databases that can be used, but you give the link to MySQL.

I would like to run multiple streams and think that the best way would be if the database could support multiple genres.
For example, I want an oldies, a British oldies and a British station. It'd help if I could classify my songs down even more
British, oldies, 60's
British, New Wave, 80's
US, oldies, 70's
US, classic rock, 70's
etc. That means I wouldn't have to create a whole set of...

I'm surprised this hasn't been done already. There is an Audio::Scrobbler perl module already. Here's a sample of code that works and should be easily implemented into calliope. One thing to note, the calliope project should apply for a program name identifier. The "tst" shouldn't be used in released software.
Another note, Audio::Scrobbler does require some other modules so be sure to check,
