What's happening?

  • Piece location

Would it be possible to detail which main piece numbers correspond to which files in multi-file torrents? This is one of two things I find uTorrent lacking - the other being no Linux port.

  • gTorrent hangs on exit

When the program is closed, either via menu or the close button on the window, it will hang for several seconds before exiting. This is due to the torrent engine shutting down.

  • gTorrent crashes when columns sorted

When multiple torrents are downloading, clicking the column headers in the torrent pane results in the application crashing.

  • Getting close

I posted this on ubuntuforums.org a few hours ago, but basically gTorrent is getting close to a first alpha. The client runs, it downloads, and it can download multiple files at once. Unfortunately, there is no way to control the download, where it is saved to, cap the download speed, etc. Yet. Our engine, which is a Python wrapper class for libtorrent, does support these things, they just...

  • First Download Completed

gTorrent has successfully completed it's first bittorrent download. Sort of. The engine that we are using (A Python wrapper for libtorrent) works on the commandline, and my job this weekend is to work on integrating that into the GUI. After that is done, I'd think we're close to our first alpha release.

  • Download specific files in the torrent

Hi and congratulations for your project. I don't know if this has already been asked for, but a way to download just *some* specific files from a torrent is very, very needed. I work with big torrent files (>1GB) and it can be very frustrating to download the whole thing for a 10 MB file. So please, add this. Cheers.

  • Encryption

I'd really like to see transport encryption in gTorrent. This is the only thing that would keep me from using it, since my ISP (Adelphia) has decided to block BitTorrent seeding. Good luck on this project, it sounds really promising.

  • IP Blocking

It would be great if a blocking system similar to Safepeer or Peerguardian could be implemented.

  • gTorrent

So here it is. This has been in disscussion for a few days on ubuntuforums.org, and I am indeed working on it. My other project, carputeros, has been delayed for the moment. Right now, I'm focused on building a bittorrent client for Gnome. You'll be welcome to try and build it on other D.E.s, but I won't make any guarantees. Sometime after Python 2.5 or 2.6 comes out, I'll likely rework...
