I'm still having this problem. Is there a way to solve it that doesn't require iTunes? I started using gtkpod because I can't run iTunes on my current computer.

However, I don't think it's the same because it also effects local repositories. I encountered the problem above and tried to change all of the non-zero playcounts on my songs back to 1. When I did so, gtkpod changed all my ratings to 4, and I had to restore my iPod from...

gtkpod does not seem to support the 5th generation ipod nano.
When adding songs to the iPod everything looks fine, but when unplugging the iPod reports '0 songs'.

OS Ubuntu 9.10 amd64
Ubuntu 9.04 does recognise the iPod and can manage it. It reports the iPod to be iPod Nano model xA350. This is the small white iPod; the firmware is 1.3.1.
I can see the device in Rhytmbox, though and play the songs.

I enconded a video with ffmpeg and transfered it to my ipod (4th generation), but the video has no audio.
The command I used to encode the video was: ffmpeg -i in.avi -f mp4 -vcodec mpeg4 -maxrate 1000k -qmin 3 -qmax 5 -bufsize 4096k -g 300 -s 320x240 -acodec libfaac -ab 128k -b 700k out.mp4
I'm using gtkpod 0.99.14 in fedora 11.
