Great info. By using your trick of running GrandPerspective as root I manage to reclaim a lot of space "hidden" in user accounts.

Cache the results of each scan. Then use the FSEvent API to update the cache every time you launch Grand Perspective. Then you could show results almost immediately.

I also find the idea of having the ability to quickly see recently added files extremely useful. To be honest, I think I would personally like to see the idea extended to being alternately able to show recently changed files as well. [Of course, if one is going that route, then the whole idea of having 'comparison maps' between stored scans becomes possible, opening up another entire area of...
