Dear Edward,
Firstly I would like to thank you for creating the most helpful and useful Mac OS Widget on my computer. I think it is brilliant and use it daily!
Unfortunately, it has stopped working on both my home and work computers. It no longer automatically logs into my Gmail account when I click on the widget. It does state the number of emails waiting in each account though...

Hello,
I have noticed that over the last week, when I click on the widget, I am brought to a login screen. It appears as if Google has changed their login scheme so that clicking on the widget is no longer recognized as an accepted way of logging into Gmail.
Any help or suggestions?
Thanks!
Gilbert.

Please add support for Gmail Labels, or even proper gotMailG filters.
Then I could make gotMailG show only the mails from my girlfriend; open another gMG widget and make it show only the mails labelled as ”important” etc.
Now, THAT would be useful! :-)

Thanks for the info. Ill check out how Gmail Notify does it, but my guess is that they are using a private API to allow them to extract/bypass the magic number stuff.

What I find interesting is Google Notifier on Mac seems to have a way around this. Though it isn't a widget, it's always logged in and gone to the webpage...never a hitch.
The G.N. login is similar to GotMail it but adds @gmail to the login name. The thing it does that impresses me is if you're logged into a different Gmail account, it triggers the gmail page that says "you're trying to...

when i click on the widget it goes to gmail and inserts my username, but does not insert password (though password does show up in the address bar), and so it does not log in. Worked fine for years, stopped working on all computers (MacBookPro and iMac) a couple of days ago. login on goto is checked. username and password entered and correct. please help.

Hi solo-act,
Thanks for the report. The issue you mention (and described in https://sourceforge.net/projects/gotmailg/forums/forum/470265/topic/3418327) is still an issue. Google seems to be changing around there server configurations on us, and as a result the bug appears and disappears for individuals. Hopefully Google will settle down soon and at least give me one predictable behavior to...

About 10 days ago login stopped working and the developer did a fantastic job of fixing it...thank you, thank you, thank you.
It was working until last night, then google changed something overnight AGAIN. Same behavior -- login seems to be broken on 10.5.8 with Safari 4.0.3.

Very weird. So far its still broken on my end. But maybe Google is switching back (which would take a few days to affect everyone). That would be great.

Weird. As of this morning, gotMailG is working perfectly again.
