Setting 'layer orientation' when opening file (especially when opening multiple files) would be very nice. When you would like to put multiple boards into one project (or scale board for better inspection) you have to set the same parameters multiple times...

Would be nice to be able to define what color/trasparency should be used when opening file based on the file extension. I think it is usual to have 'favorite' color schema and it is boring to set colors with each layer...

Marek,
Are you using the Windows version? I can't seem to reproduce in Linux...when I drag the toolbar it detaches and correctly forms its own window.
If it is a bug only on Windows, this may be beyond our control, since it's part of the GTK+ package. We could disable the "docking" feature on the Windows version though. Let me know your thoughts.
Cheers,
Julian.

When one un-dock toolbar (move it by mouse) toolbar disappears and it is not possible to show it again. Additionally it would be fine to be able to dock toolbar on side (not on top) of window - but I have not idea if library allowes it.

Hi Julian,
I'll use easier way (now) and save changed files:) (totoal 3 files)
Changes:
-transparency saved with color (older project files still could be read)
-layer orientation saved to project file
With best regards,
Marek.

cmake was never considered. It was too new when gerbv was started. As far as switching I am not really interested right now. As far as I know, crosscompiling, out-of-soruce building, and package creation are all supported and easy with the current system.
Are there particular problems you're seeing?
I have 3 main hesitations about changing
1) as far as I know the current system...

Marek,
You can even just upload the changed files to this feature request, if you'd like. If you want to submit just the changed portions (the patch), you can use the "diff -u OLDFILE NEWFILE > PATCHFILE" command to create a patch file for the changes.
Hope this helps. And thanks for the help...hope you stick around in the future!
Cheers,
Julian.

Hi Julian,
I know it's a shame but I do not know how to submit it. Is there some simple howto for someone new to linux word? I'm Windows guy and I installed Fedora only yesterday because of cross-compiling gerbv...
Best regards,
Marek.
