The error message you get is a bug which is already fixed in 1.0beta2 and has nothing to do with the uninstall.
The uninstall doesn't work because it does not check if geeklauncher is running at the time. So you need to stop it before uninstalling it. I'll go look for a way to build this into the uninstaller.
Also: you do not need to uninstall 1.0 beta 1, before installing 1.0 beta 2. But...

I tried to uninstall 1.0 beta to install 1.0 beta 2 clean and while the app was removed from the start menu, it still exists on c:\program files\geek launcher - the app was still running in the system tray and when trying to save its configuration afterwards I get an error (probably due to partial uninstall).

Been using the program for two days now and it seems that during use (to open explorer.exe, firefox, notepad++) instead of using the start bar, my shutdowns on xp hang indefinitely. Once I kill the geeklauncher process I can shut down with no problem.

This one is in the latest trunk. You can choose between a large and a small UI. This is because I can only extract 32x32px icons and 16x16px icons.

Could the functionality be added so that programs could be places into groups, ie work, personal, side job a, side job b, etc? This way the auto complete search could be done for "work" and bring up the 5 programs that are used, etc. Also the option of launching all programs in a group could be useful as well.
