  • Followup: RE: no sound

Well I finally managed to do it. The audio codec required for the Sony video recorder movies is the a52 codec. Looking inside the "configure" for the ffmpeg package I noticed that the --enable-liba52 option by default was set to "no", so I figured out that an easy solution to this problem would be to recompile the fobs4jmf (including ffmpeg) and enable the a52 codec. After much frustration...

  • Followup: RE: no sound

Hi bigredfed, Thank you for the advice. I have downloaded the source for both programmes but I am a little green with regards knowing how to compile FOBS against ffmpeg. I would seriously appreciate the steps that I need to take. Could you find the time to assist me? Andy.

FOBS is built with different versions of FFMPEG. To get the codec support that you get from standalone ffmpeg, you have to compile FOBS against ffmpeg directly. It does not import ffmpeg libraries, but links to them directly.

On windows you may also need to make sure that the JMF native libraries are part of the native library lookup path or the windows system path.

  • fobs cant play flv

I have program with player which usees fobs4jmf. Program crashes attempting to play certain flv files (program GSpot says that these files request FLV4/VP62 codec). Other flv files use flv1, avc1 codecs and they play fine. How can I fix program crshing? Shold I add some codec or something?.

  • Unable to handle format

Hi everybody, I have a problem quite similar to [https://sourceforge.net/projects/fobs/forums/forum/374876/topic/3386269][1]. I try to run JMF with fobs4jmf under Eclipse but I always have the same error: Unable to handle format: DX50, 720x576, FrameRate=25.0, Length=0 0 extra bytes Unable to handle format: mpeglayer3, 48000.0 Hz, 0-bit, Stereo, Unsigned, 16000.0 frame rate...

We are having so many issues with FOBS/JMF behaving differently on different computers we are looking to use a different solution all together - there are just too many variables - codecs - versions of DLLs - Direct X - etc etc We are going to try a browser based solution and use flash embedded - see if we can eliminate all the variables.

  • Followup: RE: no sound

I have experienced exactly the same problem with an mpg file obtained from my Sony video camera.it works under windows with 0.4.1 but not 0.4.2 and on Linux where I actually want to use it using 0.4.1 it also says "audio codec unsupported". The fobs\_jmstudio under Windows plays the file fine in version 0.4.1 and indicates that the audio is encoded using ffmeg\_audio 48kHz 16bit...

  • Followup: RE: no sound

The file I used were downloaded from akha.org. If you scroll down there are a bunch of links (ex: Day27 - Grants Pass), which are m4v movies. Those are the files I was using.

I'm not seeing any comments from the original author - last version release 2008 - guessing not active - have you found any other solutions?.
