User Reviews

  • The BellaOS Linux operating system is great software for most desktop and laptop computers that do not have UEFI (Universal Extensible User Interface, also known as the CMOS ROM-BIOS with user mouse to navigate the BIOS menu features.) Among computer systems that do have UEFI, fear naught. BellaOS is very well behaved in the two years that is run on a custom assembled computer system. This is the entire desktop computer system running BellasOS on a esktop computer system. All component items purchased from July 2014 through February 2015. All these computer components operated perfectly with BellaOS Linux. Intel Core-i3 4360 (2 x 32bit cores) 64bit 3.7 GigaHertz processor with GPU built in graphics controller. Corsair Hydro Series H60 Closed Loop Liquid Cooling System for processor. GigaByte Z97-HD3 main logic board with two CMOS ROM-BIOS EEPROM. Corsair DDR-3 SDRAM (2.1 GigaHertz) 16 GigaByte total memory. Corsair HX-750 750Watts ATX power supply with power factor correction (means it has brown out power protection). Maxtor Ultra Series 200GigaByte PATA-3 (ATA IDE type) magnetic hard disk drive for testing legacy hardware. SIIG PCI (32bit) bus Ultra-ATA, P-ATA IDE hard disk controller for Parallel-ATA magnetic hard disk drives and ATA type CD-ROM and DVD optical writers. Seagate 1TeraByte SATA-3 magnetic hard disk drive. LG 16x DVD+-RW, CD-RW, CD-ROM optical writer. Rosewill IEEE-802.11a/g/n PCI-E 1.0 (64bit) bus Wireless Internet (WiFi) Adapter. One generic liquid cooling system ready Mid-Tower steel computer case. AOpen 103 key Windows (generic) PS/2 keyboard. One scroll three button (generic) USB 1.0 optical mouse. HP LaserJet 1200 and HP LaserJet P1102w Laser printers. With this desktop computer system able to test run any hardware from 1988 through 2017 is the best way to test all the Linux computer operating systems. Wanted to know if the BellaOS distribution of Linux is better than existing and more established Linux versions. The quick answer is yes. Even after power surges from living in rural locations where electricity is not reliable the BellaOS Linux is able to recover with a simple reset button of the computer case power button or Corsair ATX power supply on/off button. The shut-down to power off is easy. Taken less than three seconds to complete power off with the monitor/television screen also going off. This is excellence. With both Windows and Mac OS-X operating systems, there is quite a bit of waiting. The Windows 8/8.1/10/1 update feature is very intrusive and annoying during shut-down process. The Mozilla's Firefox browser allows a User to set and customize features as needed. The software suite for creating audio music CD and video DVD is excellent. Made perfect copies of my purchased and beloved rare vintage 1970s CD-ROM digital music discs. With very little knowledge am able to make a near perfect copy of a store bought commercial (USA-region) HDCP DVD. The audio is absent because forgotten to use the DVD step by step process instead of the one-step audio CD create feature. (Children like to feed pets with DVD discs, require backing up.) No other software is necessary to create archive of purchased copy protected music CDs and movie DVD. Interaction on the internet with BellaOS is easy, all User need to do is a simple quick setup of the network access and privacy features. The audio setup is also easy as the User need to know whether the sound is going to an digital HDMI output jack, or the legacy analog phono (3.5mm) jack for headphones. The audio support with BellaOS is perfect, allowing User to increase loudness volume upwards of 150% of normal. And there is very little distortion (about 8 to 10% at 150% which in USA high fidelity standards is acceptable. The multi-channel digital surround sound audio receivers are about the same performance standard.) Video support is very smooth with no motion lag. User can access a 38-inch diagonal measured 1024p (progressive scan), 1024i (interlaced scan), or 720p (progressive scan) LED lit LCD flat screen digital television receiver (cheaper than a computer monitor.) Operating System setup is relatively easy. For engineering duties, technical work, BellaOS is not for that caliber. And for everything else including academia, general desktop, single home office business, new comer to Linux operating systems will a be a delightful and comfortable exploration. This Linux version is well thought of, consistent, and a polished effort. BellaOS is a perfect example of how a compatible, reliable, and accessible computer operating system should behave. It has all the basic programs a User needs and quite a bit more. And the User can still obtain more applications and programs from the internet (requires hard disk drive space). And its all free like in freedom. At last there are alternatives to Windows, Mac OS-X, and UNIX operating systems. With over 37,840+ distributions of Linux (many unheard of and not mainstream, but specialized for specific industry application,) there are at least two versions of Linux operating systems for every significant mainstream processor ever in existence. Would like to test drive a new 2018 version of BellaOS. Perhaps the next new version of BellaOS should be named as "Senza Fine". Graci. Merci Beaucoup. Danke Schon. Danko. Mucho Gracias. Thank you.
