AutoREALM is a free role-playing game mapping program originally made by Andrew Gryc. This program is an excellent mapping program that can design castles, caves, cities, dungeons and more. New developers are more than welcome!
Previously, development were using Delphi language. Some attempts to rewrite it in other languages were done, but currently (since January 2012) there is an attempt or rewrite using those technologies:
_ wxWidgets 2.9 (will be 3.0 when it will be released)
_ pluma framework (a fixed version located on bitbucket)
The design of the actual C++ code-base primarily targets clean source code and high modularity of source code, to allow easy reuse of the code and fast learning for people who might join the effort.
Current development is located on https://bitbucket.org/bmorel/autorealm . Howerver, older repositories are still here in case someone would like to consult them, and to allow easy access to algorithms they might contain.
- plug-in based
- vector-based drawing software
Still not as good as donjon.bin.sh but as close as you can get offline (since donjon.bin.sh doesn't have any downloadable programs really)
Generates a good map. The layers, called overlays are a problem however; they will not print properly, after spending hours working on a map, it's upsetting to find that it will not print all the overlays and will not save them in an alternate format either. I don't know if this is just an issue with windows 8.1 - 64 though.
Best feature pf this program? support for touch screens, which not even Photoshop can figure out. Good job, and thank you to the developers!!!
Impossible to install. Hit the .exe file, starts ok, errors out and crashes. New-ish computer, Win8.1.
Thanks for Autorealm, it's excellent!
