When using aMSN in my MacBook, I frequently have my aMSN process ended and receive the dump that goes attached. It happens mostly when using webcam.
My brother uses aMSN in a Windows XP laptop and there aren't any problems. I also use other softwares like Photoshop, Office, etc. in my MacBook and they run OK.
When using only text and voice messages, aMSN hardly presents any faults, but...

I tweaked a bit the aMSN build following instructions in the forum (http://www.amsn-project.net/forums/index.php/topic,6096.0.html).
The build stops with the instruction:
cc -O2 -pipe -I/usr/X11R6/include -I/usr/local/include -I/usr/local/include/libpng -g3 -DDEBUG -w -D_LARGEFILE_SOURCE -D_LARGEFILE64_SOURCE...

Same behavior here. I also noticed that I'm unable to successfully initiate a video session. The receiver, that's using MS Live Messenger, get the request to accept the video session but after it is accepted the initialization fail.

I send a file from aMSN to a friend using Live! messenger and when the file is done, aMSN tells me everything was ok by removing the file-transfer window but my friend tells me that Live gives him an error-message that the file wasn't transfered.
I've tried this by sending files to other friends and they all told me they got an error message.
Could it be a faulty closing of the file-transfer...

Issue happens only for contact added with the last msn release (it seems so but not tested).
Reproduced under ubuntu with 0.98.1 against msn 2009 (build 14.0.8089.726).
- Add a new contact from amsn
- Contact accepted by the other party but the check window never appears in the amsn side (Would you accept that "partner" show when you're online, or smth like)
- then both can see the other...

Michael Gilbert reported the bug: http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=557754 in Debian. This bug was marked as grave because it needs to be checked if those Common Vulnerabilities & Exposures still exist.
I am the maintainer of aMSN in Debian, that's why I am forwarding this report here. In case that it doesn't exist anymore we can proceed to close it, but if it still exists so...
