you don't need .7 prerelease, you still can do it with this version.
i've got this option at home, in my imgsvr.xml file i've got :
to be able to access the network from the service, i changed the service user owner
Computer (right click) -> Manage -> Services and Applications -> Services -> Image Server Service Imgsvr...

Is it possible to use a mounted volume as the file catalog root? I have tried to set it up like that but it does not show any folders or images.
