"ls -lf" produces same output as "ls -f". I would expect the long version of the directory listing, but I get the short version in call cases if "-f" is involved.
If you read the man ls, you will see -f do not sort, enable -aU, disable -ls --color in fact, it's the purpose of -f Maybe you want to say -F?
