ZR36067 NT Driver (Iomega Buz) / News: Recent posts

Project Resumed

This project is going to be resumed after some time of inactivity. After quite some waiting for the long anounced drivers to be released by Pinnacle, I came to the conclusion, that it is far more effective to continue the development of this project. The current sources build an NT 4 kernel mode driver. Unfortunately this isn't compatible with ACPI versions of Windows 2000 and Windows XP. So the only choice is to create a new WDM stream class based driver. For this the project needs some development help. If you know C/C++ and have some knowledge about Windows development (especially file IO, threads, inter process communications and all kernel related topics) you are the right one for this project.

Project Suspended

The development of this project is suspended for an indefinite time. If you are interested in working on it, you can find the sources in the CVS. If you need help or want to be added as a developer for this project then drop me a mail.

Thanks,

Ingo

New home for the codecs

I decided to divide the project. From now on the codecs package will have its own project site on SourceForge, which you can find here:

http://www.sf.net/projects/mediaxw

All discussion and bug reporting for the codecs should now take place there. Additionally the next development snapshot of the codecs will be released there in a couple of days.

The sources of the codecs will remain in the Zoran NT CVS repository until I have prepared them to be moved to the Media XW repsitory. Until then you can grab them here.

Changed License to LGPL

Due to a problem with the term 'linking' the QPL is not applicable to software components like COM objects or drivers on a closed source operating system like Windows. Therefore I decided to use the LGPL. This license contains explicit clauses about linking and using libraries (=components in my case).

The old released sources and binaries still have the QPL license. All new releases will be licensed to the LGPL.... read more

Project Status & New IRC Channel

Many users have asked for a new release of the driver. Unfortunately I have not worked on the driver sources for the last three weeks and I won't do so for this week, too. Don't worry. I haven't forgotten the driver. However I've concentrated on some Ogg Vorbis DirectShow filters, which I started to develop before the driver project was created. I'm currently working together with the author of NanDub, a forked version of VirtualDub, widely used to create MPEG4
(DivX) compressed videos. We are trying to integrate Ogg Vorbis audio compression into video files, e.g. AVIs.... read more

New mailing list

I've created the new ZoranNT-Devel mailing list. Please place all questions, bugs, ideas, etc to that list, even if you are not a developer.

Until the next release in a couple of days, I have removed the binary package, because there were some errors, which I hope to get fixed soon.
