Status Update And Plans

Heya folks,

I've been pretty silent as of late, so I thought I'd give a quick update to let people know that I'm still alive and well. After a flurry of activity around the release of the second matrix film, I've just let the code settle around the 1.5.2 version for a while.

Despite the rapidly expanding bug/feature submissions, I'm reasonably satisfied with version 1.5.2. I do like some of the suggestions coming in though. Having special strings pulled in from external sources (rss feeds, etc...) sounds like a great idea to me, the glow feature would be great if I could manage to implement it reasonably efficiently, and the often asked for feature of not erasing occluded areas is also on my todo list.

The suggestion of an Adobe Premiere plug-in for this effect was also interesting, and I'm thinking that if I do implement that plugin, that would be a non-free component available seperately from the desktop. I'm sure many out there would prefer that it be a free component, but I figure if you're using Adobe Premiere, you're doing at least a semi-professional level of creation, and some compensation is reasonable for this effect.

Anyways, any plans are just vaporware for now, as I don't plan any coding binges any time soon. I'll be away for most of July on vacation, so we'll see how things go when I get back.
