Some form of configurable keyboard bindings, others have requested multimedia or keypad controls, but can we please have a configurable binding system such that I can define my own keys (eg ctrl+alt+insert = play/pause)

Probably a much better idea would be to add an Command Line Interface like xmms to control a running zinf Session.
Something like
zinf --next zinf --pref zinf --play-pause
So everyone is able to use a program like xbindkeys, lineakd or hotkeys to control zinf.
