Been using the CVS build 9-11-03 and now 9-25-03, and
I am having a problem with the "file sort order" within
the application section of XBMP.

I have a directory layout on E: like so:-
E:\emulators

I map a bookmark to this. Like so:-
<bookmark>
<name>Emulators</name>
<path>e:\emulators</path>
</bookmark>

Now when I browse my emulators the files listed are not
in alphabetical order (by the xbe's internal name) they
are listed in alphabetical order as per directory layout.

i.e

Directory name Internal Application name
------------------------------------------------
Atari800 Atari 800/5200
Atari2600 Atari 2600
blissx Intellivision
colecovision ColecoVision
dosxbox XBox Dos
fbax Final Burn Alpha
fmsxbox MSX
hugo PC Engine
mame Arcade

The column on the right is how the applications look and
are sorted in XBMP CVS.

In the point release they are sorted correctly.

Sorry if this has been reported before, but I could not
see anything.

After I posted all the white space in my formated example
was removed. Sorry, but you should still get the gist.

hmm, not sure if this count as a bug, it more if a FR as it's
    always worked like that.

Talked with some other guys on the team and all say it's a FR,
so moving this to the Feature Request tracker. Regards / G

    okay I have cracked it!!

I have three Xbox's here and I have been playing about and I
found on one on my Xbox's the sort order was okay, and the
other 2 it was not (and they were all running the 24-9-03
    CVS)

Basically the 2 that the sort order sorts wrong were "clean"
installs of XBMP i.e. the 2 0face007 & the XBMP folders were
deleted before installation of the CVS.

On the one where the sort order is okay, I only deleted the
xbmp folder, I left the 2 0face007 folders from the point
    release.

So I copied the 2 0face007 folder from the working xbox to
the other 2 and they now sort okay.

    Summary.
Anyone doing a clean install will see this problem.
Anyone upgrading the point release to the CVS will not
(unless they delete the 2 0face007 folders first)

I found that by hexediting the system.bin file and changing
the byte at offset 2896 (8 bytes from the end of the file)
from 00 to 01 that the sort order is fixed. I guess this is a file
sort flag that can not be set normally in system settings.

I hope this helps a bit

oops (8 bytes from the end of the file) should read (16 bytes
from the end of the file)
