#39 Missing libgobject-20.la (RH)

Systems: RH 8 and 9
WV: wv2-0.2.1

When running make I get the following error:

grep: /usr/lib/libgobject-2.0.la: No such file or directory
/bin/sed: can't read /usr/lib/libgobject-2.0.la: No such file or
directory
libtool: link: `/usr/lib/libgobject-2.0.la' is not a valid libtool archive
make[2]: *** [libwv2.la] Error 1
...

I have a /usr/lib/libgobject-2.0.so and a libgobject-2.0.a file but no
'.la' file.

I've searched rpmfind for packages including this file but none of
the .rpm's seem to be compatible with RH. I have all the latest
glib's, glib2's, -devel's, etc. that appear to be required. I've not
seen anyone else mention this issue so I must be doing something
really stupid.

I have other .la files in /usr/lib, how are they different from .a or
.so files (you can tell I'm not a C programmer)?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

On my rh90 box, /usr/lib/libgobject-2.0.la doesn't exist,
and wv2 builds fine.
