Tried today to install 0.4.7 on Windows 8.1 Pro (64bit) , ended up in several Error-Messages while showing first Page of the Installer ?! Several Access Violations , etc.
well, no surprise M$ breaks things every time they upgrade their softwares. this is how they make money.
ok, I'll have a look at it as soon as I locate a win 8.1 box.

I can't reproduce the issue.
I successfully tested the installer and the software (0.4.8) on a Win 8.1 x64 machine.
Please try with the latest version, and eventually try disabling antivirus software.

I am having this same issue with Windows 8.1 and version 0.4.9.1, the previous version did not have this issue. I have attached screen captures of the errors. The second error message is persistent and will not allow the installation to continue; in fact the installer has to be forced to quit using Task Manager.

I'm sorry, I can't reproduce this issue.
My Windows 8.1 x64 box works correctly. I can't fix any error that I can't reproduce.

Ok, that's weird.
Anyway, it's got something to do with the GPL license text in RTF format embedded into the installer.
Let's try with this installer, which contains a plain text GPL license text.
