no sound from 0.2.2 and CVS not starting up

    Hi there,

    wantet to give the long awaited 0.2.2 a go and compiled it on my Gentoo ~x86 box using
    * wxGTK-2.6.3.2
    * portaudio-19 snapshot from two days ago
    which succeeded after fighting against libtool and autofoo.

    It startet OK, i loaded a .mid, loaded a sample in the looper, connected the looper to the midi track, hit play, midi track level meter blinks, but no sound ever hits the mixer. the mixer level meters do nothing..
    Same problem on
    * Gentoo x86 and ~x86, three different machines, different compilers, glibc etc..
    * SuSE 10.0 and  SuSE 10.1

    and we didn't get a single noise out of wired on any of the machines so far.
    did we miss something config-whise?

    Anyways i saw some commits that look like they could be good to have in and checked latest rev 839 i guess was it, and that one even doesn't start up.

    Well.. i just post the whole stdout..
    Note that i compiled it without DSSI support, and still it uses it *shrug*

    I also tried removing dssi and dssi-vst temporary, so wired cannot use it, but the result is the same, it just skipps DSSI plugin loading.

    So far all i can say is, that it looks really awesome, I especially love the way LADSPA plugs look like in wired.. but, well... doesn't help if one can't here it

    If i can help in any way debugging that, just let me know what to do and how to do it ;)

      First things first, the MIDI problem is being tested and will be very soon added to the bugtracker.
      Our debugging work hasn't reached the MIDI part but it's a good time to put our nose in it.
      Just to make sure v0.2.2 works on your environment, you can try to load a wav file and to play it.
      If it still doesn't work, double-check your configuration (make sure stdout tells you it opened the stream on the right output with the right parameters) and try using the wired-libs-0.2 package (you can try just picking the portaudio snapshot and try an unicode version of Wx). There may also be problems with the '4096 samples/buffer' parameter... try reducing it to a lower value.

      Then, for the SVN version, lot of code rewriting is being done. Update it often, and let us know if you find out more on the reasons why it crashes.
