Wicket will soon complete the move to Apache, and be available at http://wicket.apache.org

As part of the incubation, we already moved the issue trackers and the developer list to Apache managed ones. Now that we are graduated, we will move the user list and anything else that matters for the core project to Apache as well.

The Wicket 1.2 downloads will stay available on sourceforge, but the newer releases - a fresh Wicket 1.3 beta 2 release was made available earlier this week - will be hosted by Apache.... read more

The Wicket project has released the maintenance release Wicket 1.2.1. Wicket is a Java component based web application framework licensed under the open source Apache 2 license. Wicket allows Java developers to create highly dynamic web applications using plain Java and HTML.

This maintenance release fixes several bugs, and introduces some new features, amongst others the long awaited Portlet (JSR-168) support. Due to time constraints, the portlet examples have not been released yet. You can find them in SVN until the time has been found to build a proper release for it. The Wicket web framework team has released Wicket 1.0 as open source under the Apache Software License.

Wicket is a component-oriented web framework which simplifies the creation of complex web user interfaces. The look and feel of Wicket web pages is defined in ordinary XHTML, which can be edited with standard Web tools such as DreamWeaver or Go Live. The pages are then
made dynamic by associating Java components. Wicket components are extensible within the Java language, much like Swing components, and can be backed by POJO (Plain Old Java Object) model objects that can be persisted using an ORM tool, such as Hibernate or JDO.
