I'm continuing to help a local ISP who we set up to use webmin for DNS management. There is apparently a problem with some zones which were imported from an old setup, and generated by another method. All of these zones have their SOAs on a single line, with no parentheses, like: @ IN SOA dns.server. email.address. 5 10800 1800 604800 86400 Webmin is apparently not able to read these zone files correctly and parse the individual records to show and edit. If I add parentheses to the end of the line, then it works and all the records show up in webmin. Is webmin looking for parentheses in order to determine an SOA record? This is very dangerous, because: 1) Not every SOA record will have parentheses, as above 2) Parentheses are valid in other records (with BIND versions > 4) - they are simply indications to ignore line breaks within them, kind of like a \ at the end of a line in a command shell. Okay I've installed webmin 0.990 on a RedHat 7.3 server to try it out. So far everything works great except I'm having problems with the System Log Module. When I click on the view tab to see a log I get this error message. proc::safe_process_exec failed : Undefined subroutine &proc::safe_process_exec called at (eval 21) line 2. Ummm I checked the module configuration and it's correct, I also check each log configuration and they are correct. Well they are all pointing to correct locations. Whats not setup correctly? For the error, it sounds like an attempt to call a function from that module is failing .. which could happen if it didn't get installed, or was deleted. - Jamie |

It basically goes into an infinite loop. Is this behavior correct? One more question - which version of webmin are you running? I am using version 0.990. Also, after a while I notice that the browser continues to search/load several pages from webmin when I click on the status bar of the browser. example) ?cat=cluster ?cat=hardware, etc. It seems to loop through several of these pages somehow without loading. I tried to stop the loading, but, it continues. The only way to stop it is to go back a page. Wierd. I am using the IE browser. You are right - webmin isn't dealing with that format properly. It was assuming that SOA records always contain ( ) when that doesn't have to be the case.
