First configuration

If the installation is successful, at the first login vteddy will ask you to set the outgoing mail server. The settings of the outgoing server (SMTP), are used to redirect vteddy with the email server to send out emails.

Don't worry, if you want you can set the server settings later. Just go to the Settings icon (the gear icon on the menu bar on the right), then choose Mail Server on the left (maybe you have to scroll the page).

In this section you can specify the details about SMTP server (used for sending the mail).

First you have to choose the type of your account. The system gives you the possibility to configure the most used smtp server, like those provided by Gmail, Hotmail, Yahoo! and Exchange. However you can always configure your own custom server by choosing Other.

Configuration details:

  • Server name: use mail.yourdomain.com where yourdomain.com is the actual domain name.
  • Port: enter the port number of your smtp server.
  • User Name: enter your user name.
  • Password: enter your password.
  • Requires Authentication?: click on the checkbox to enable authentication before sending a mail.

You can also specify the imap settings, so the system users can find these settings when they will set their personal email accounts.

Finally, vteddy will ask you to check the cron configuration. Cron automates the scheduled process by executing it periodically in the background.
