Would be nice if the installer detected that a user does not have administrator rights, it would offer to install in %USERPROFILE%/AppData/Local, like Chrome and Firefox do.
I agree. Since VcXsrv does not need any additional things except the installed files to work, it would be great to have an non-administrative installer.

Agreed. I installed with run-as-administrator several times from regular user account and their were no desktop icons or menu entries. I then logged in as administrator and installed. There were no desktop icons created, but menu entries existed. I then logged back in as regular user and the menu items were gone.

As time goes on, more and more corporation remove admin rights to users for security reasons. A portable version is more needed than never.
