The Mac installer currently assumes that the user running it is an admin, with write access to /Applications. The installer fails when run by a normal user, rather than requesting admin credentials.
This is a major issue that makes it unusable by many people. Just distribute a DMG or other archive file that contains UMPlayer.app so a user can simply drag it to wherever they want. This is how VLC and all other sane apps do it.
