When trying to install an extension that has a dependency, the Extension Manager will try to fetch it from TER. Since TYPO3Winstaller does not provide an extensions.xml.gz file, the Extension Manager fails and reports that there were network problems. If an extensions.xml.gz file was provided this would seldomly happen.

I do realize that the extensions.xml.gz file would be outdated, but I think this would improve the overall first-time experience of using TYPO3Winstaller. Furthermore I guess it could be easily implemented.

Now Extension-Manager will work with TER.
Bug is fixed with new version of 4.2.3 and 4.3.0alpha1

I think I should be more precise. My problem is this:

    1) I have an extension that I have imported from a file on disk via the 'Extension Managers' -> 'Import Extension' -> 'Upload Extension Directly'.
    2) This extension requires another extension that have been uploaded like above.
    3) The second extension requires an extension on TER, but this is where I get an error if extensions.xml.gz is not already located in typo3temp/
