tvpvrd 1.0.0 released

tvpvrd 1.0.0 (TV Personal Video Recorder daemon/server) has just been relased.

tvpvrd is a highly flexible and configurable Unix/Linux server daemon that acts as an advanced digital TV recorder using one or several installed TV capture cards. The server manage scheduled recordings and provides an efficient command language interface on a dedicated TCP/IP port.

The vision of the daemon is to provide an advanced recording and transcoding (via 'ffmpeg') server without the need to have to configure databases or a complex GUI. The server is self contained and primarily uses XML to store and manage recordings. In addition the server has built-in intelligence to make it as easy as possible to manage and use. Examples are highly flexible commands to specify future recordings, automatic load assessment on the server to avoid starting too may parallell transcoding jobs.

The server is completely self contained and has a small footprint. In keeping with Unix tradition the daemon is coded in C using a very defensive coding style to make it as unlikely as possible that there are still undiscovered major problems.

The server comes with an extensive man page, tvpvrd(1), and installaton guide.

Note: The server has only been extensively verified on SuSE 11.1 and SuSE 11.2 but has not been built on any other distributions. So there might be minor build issues on other distributions.
